Mission - Needs Prayer
Commitment to Mission
Exodus 17:11 - Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed.
Israel were on their way to the promised land but the army of Amalek stood in their way. Moses knew they needed Gods intervention, so he went up on a hill with the staff of God and held it up in his hands. As the battle took place whenever Moses held up his hand Israel began to win and whenever his hand lowered Israel began to lose. As Moses grew tired two men came and stood beside him named Aaron and Hur, helping him keep his hands raised. Israel won the battle!
We are too on a journey to the promised land (an eternity with the Lord), and mission-minded Christians (or more commonly known as Christians) are determined to take as many people with them as possible. The way we do this... By telling people about the Lord Jesus Christ. Every time we engage in the activity of spreading the gospel we are in a battle just like Israel.
In the church, we need to know what each other are doing in our pursuits of spreading the gospel. We need lots of people in prayer holding up their hands, just like Moses. We need people pleading with God asking that he would bless our Kingdom work.
Why? It's not by our clever words people are saved! As Jesus said:
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit. - John 3:8
If people are going to come to know the Lord it's by Gods sovereign intervention. The Spirit blows into a persons life as they hear the gospel and they are born again. The right thing to do is hold up your hands and pray. Pray that God would open a persons eyes as the battle for a persons soul ensues! Please support your brothers and sisters missionary endeavours in prayer!
Commitment to mission is... Commitment to praying. Are you in?

Prayer: Father, we know that you will bless our work to spread the gospel for your glory, but we confess we have not been diligent in prayer. Lord, please cause us to pray for each other as we go and spread the good news of Jesus. Amen.
